Notifications
Updated
One list of what happened in every account you're in: who mentioned you, and what's new in the conversations you're part of.
The bell
The bell in the top bar, beside ?, opens your Notifications. It shows a dot while something is unread. It's there on every page, inside an account or not, because the list holds every account at once.
What you're told about
- Someone mentions you with @ in a comment, or in a rich-text field of a record. A mention in a field only admins see reaches only the people who see that field, and one in a comment only admins see, only the table's managers.
- A new comment on a record where you commented, or were mentioned. If the comment mentions you, you get the mention, not both.
- Your export or import finished, or couldn't be. A table was offered to an account you manage, or one you offered moved — or couldn't.
- A record entered a view you asked to hear about, with Notify me (see views). All that entered since you last read it makes one row: "3 new records in “Overdue”".
Never about something you did yourself, and only about tables you can still see. Lose access to a table and its notifications disappear from your list. An archived table notifies nobody until it's unarchived — and then not about what came due meanwhile.
A table's notifications
If you manage a table, its Settings have a Notifications page: everything the table notifies — its groups, the people managers pointed it at, and you — each with a way to stop it. Notify adds one: for you, a group the table is shared with, or someone who can see the table, on a shared view or on New records, every record added to the table. A group only hears about what its members can see, so never a view that filters on admin-only fields.
Someone you point a view at finds it under How we notify you in their User settings, with who set it up, and can stop it there. Your own views notify you from the bell beside the table's search box. The page lists yours too, but never what others set up for themselves.
One row per record
New activity on a record you already have a row for doesn't add another: the row moves to the top, turns unread again and says what happened last — "Ana and 2 others commented on Invoice 0123".
- Click a row to open its record. That marks it read.
- Mark all as read clears the dots at once.
- If your rows come from more than one account, a chip per account narrows the list to one of them.
- Read rows are kept for 90 days. Unread ones stay until you read them.
By email
Ten minutes after something lands in your notifications, if you haven't seen it in the app, we email it to you. Whatever piled up in those ten minutes comes in one email, by account, each line opening its record. Read it in the app first and no email goes out.
Emails go only to a confirmed address. Turn them off, or back on, in your User settings under How we notify you, or with Stop these emails at the foot of any of them.
On your phone and in the browser
In your User settings, under How we notify you, Turn on in this browser sends what lands in your notifications to this browser, as the system's own notifications — even with DataWasi closed. It works on a computer and on Android. On an iPhone or iPad, add DataWasi to the Home Screen first (Share, then Add to Home Screen) and turn it on from there.
A row pushes when it turns unread, and again only once you've read it or after 15 minutes, so a busy conversation doesn't buzz at every comment. The browsers you turned it on in are listed there, each with Remove; signing out of one removes it too.
