Every sheet finds its table
Importing got simpler this week: upload a file and DataWasi works out where each part of it goes, then shows you before anything runs. The trash became a search, and long lists now grow in place instead of turning pages. Here's what shipped.
One way to import, wherever you start
Upload a CSV, an Excel or SQLite file, or a ZIP of photos and PDFs, and DataWasi works out where each sheet goes: to the table whose fields its column headers name, as long as its values fit them — dates where the field holds dates, numbers where it holds numbers. A file you upload from a table goes there unless its columns name another, and if you manage the account, a sheet that names no table becomes a new one.
Before anything runs, one page shows every sheet, where it's headed and what importing it will do — how many of its columns go into fields, or what's stopping it. Send a sheet elsewhere from its list, choose Don't import, or open Edit columns; then one Import button runs them all, and the page follows each one to the end. An upload you leave before pressing Import waits under Waiting to import.
Deleted records, a search away
The Trash tab is gone: deleted records are now a search. Pick Deleted in the search box's menu — or type
deleted:*— and the table lists them instead of the live ones, newest deletion first, with when each one went. Narrow it like any search:deleted:last_week, or add words and field filters to find the one you're after.Tick the ones you want back and press Restore — or, if you manage the table, Delete permanently. Only people who can edit a table can search its deleted records, and the search can be saved as a view like any other.
Lists grow with Show more
Previous and Next are gone from the table, the gallery and the list of records that point at one — a customer's invoices, say. Each list now ends in “25 of 97 · Show more”, which brings in the next 25 below without moving the page, and rows you've ticked stay ticked. So a selection can run past the first 25: edit or delete up to 200 records at a time.
Also new
- A CSV or Excel sheet with no header row is recognized as such, so its first row imports as data too.
- Claude and other connected assistants are now told when a filter they write can't work, and what to write instead, rather than getting no records back and concluding there are none.
